Day Three, Friday, July 30th, Fernandina to St. Simons Island and Morningstar Marina Golden Isles:
Less fog today. Neighbors Bob and Pat help us cast off. Backed out of marina, on to St. Simons Island and Morningstar Golden Isles Marina.
Past Cumberland Island, GA. Many flat, green islands. Pine trees cover land in distance. Following a trawler through the narrow, winding waterway. Weaving through island dots. Back to open water. Thru inlet – OUTSIDE! Jekyll Island ahead. 11 kts. Back inside.
Past the inside shore of Jekyll Island beaches. Winding marsh area.
Daily Panic... Just as we get close to our final destination – we can see the marina in the distance - Navionics goes out!!! Have to hail marina for directions and assistance. They're laughing at us - we almost ran aground into the sea grasses!
